wedding fair 2022

There is still time for Leader readers to take part in the “Take It From Us” contest that will be held in conjunction with this year’s Leader Wedding Fair, set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, at the Quality Inn, 1200 W. Gannon Drive, in Festus.

The contest is open to all Jefferson County and Eureka residents, and those who enter the contest will have the chance to win a $200 cash prize.

For the contest, the Leader asks people to offer their advice about getting engaged, planning a wedding and staying together.

Tell us your best advice in 300 words or less, and send along a photo.

The winner, drawn at random from among all eligible entries, will receive $200 cash.

Their story, along with as many others as space permits, will be published in the special section slated to run in the Feb. 3 issue of the paper.

Deadline to submit an entry is 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26.

The following information must accompany all contest submissions:

■ Your name and town of residence

■ Your phone number

There are several options for submitting:

■ Email to the paper at

news@leaderpublications.biz.

■ Bring to the Leader office at 503 N. Second in Festus.

■ Mail to the newspaper at P.O. Box 159, Festus, 63028.

For more information, call the Leader office at 636-931-7560.

Come join the fun

Admission to the fair will cost $3 per person in advance and $5 at the gate, with proceeds going to Life on 2 Wheels, a local charity that provides bicycles to schools in hopes of encouraging children to ride.

“It’s exciting to work with a new group in the area,” Leader assistant publisher Peggy Scott said. “The work they’re doing to encourage kids to get outside and be active is really important, and we are happy to support that.”

In its 28-year history, the wedding fair has raised $45,615 for local charities.

Wedding-related businesses, representing everything from photos, cakes and food to jewelry and travel, will have booths at the fair.

Additional services like financial institutions, home decor businesses, insurance and health care will be represented as well.

The first 100 brides in the door will receive a special gift bag, and most vendors will offer attendance prizes and giveaways.

Many also will have special offers and discount packages exclusively available to fair attendees.

A limited number of booth spaces are still available for the fair. Call the Leader at 636-931-7560 for information about pricing and requirements.
