Commencement exercises for the Festus Senior High School Class of 2013 took place May 23 at Festus Stadium.

Ashley Dyer was the valedictorian and Crystal Beffa was salutatorian.

Lucas Lemar received the Tommy Alexander Award, which the Alexander family has provided since 1946 to a graduating senior in memory of Tommy Alexander, who died while serving during World War II. The award is based on scholarship, leadership, loyalty, character and friendliness and the FHS faculty selects the honoree.

The following students received George Washington Carver Awards for earning a spot in the academic top 10 percent of their graduating class: Crystal Beffa, Carmen Christopher, Ashley Coleman, Amanda Davis, Ashley Davis, Stephanie Dineen, Ashley Dyer, Kimberly Kayser, Lucas Lemar, Amanda Lococo, Brooke Lucas, Savannah McGoveran, Jessica Menke, Ana Messmer, Demi Neubrand, Molly Olten, Tori Pearia and Anna Witte.

Alicia Wiesollek, daughter of Willie Wiesollek and Frankie Sparks, received an A+ Scholarship and a Founders Scholarship to Fontbonne University, where she plans to attend.

Amber Williams, daughter of Joseph and Gracie Williams, received an A+ Scholarship and will attend Jefferson College.

Kristin Withington, daughter of Scott and Kelly Withington, received an A+ Scholarship and plans to attend Jefferson College.

Anna Witte, summa cum laude, daughter of Stephen and Jill Witte, received an A+ Scholarship, a Morris and Rosalind Golman Scholarship, a FHS TREND Scholarship, a VFW Voice of Democracy Scholarship, the Chapter EH PEO Scholarship and a Dean's scholarship and an A+ Recognition Scholarship to William Jewell College, where she plans to attend.
