Eureka Police patch

A 48-year-old Eureka woman told police her ex-boyfriend, a 43-year-old Cedar Hill man, used a log to break windows and a screwdriver to deflate two tires on her SUV after an encounter outside her home in the 18000 block of South Fox Creek Road. The incident began about 5:30 a.m. Jan. 5, Eureka Police reported.

The woman told police the encounter began after her ex-boyfriend had been texting her and came to her house, and she went to talk to him near her 2002 Chevrolet Suburban. During the conversation, the woman got into the SUV and attempted to drive away, the report said.

But the man allegedly picked up a log and started breaking windows in the SUV, smashing the driver’s-side window and two other windows on the driver’s side of the Suburban. He then allegedly reached in and grabbed the keys and used a screwdriver to deflate the driver’s side front and rear tires, according to the report.

The estimated damage to the Suburban was $850, the report said.

The man then allegedly told the woman to get into his car, and she did. After driving around, the woman said she convinced him to take her to work, which he did, according to the report said.

Eureka Police have listed the Cedar Hill man as wanted for destruction of property, but as of today (Jan. 19), officers had not been able to contact the man, Lt. David Wilson said. He said Eureka Police would seek charges against the suspect through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s office.
