A multi-agency resource center to help Jefferson County residents affected by the flood will be open this weekend at the Northwest R-1 School District’s Valley Middle School, 4300 Gravois Road, in House Springs.
The center will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 9) and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 10).
The American Red Cross and other St. Louis agencies will be there to offer resources and referrals to flood victims, the Arnold Police Department reported in a written statement.
The Police Department is advising flood victims to check Better Business Bureau ratings before hiring a company for restoration work.
The Arnold Parks and Recreation Department will continue to distribute cleaning supplies to city flood victims until 6:30 p.m. today (Jan. 6) at the Arnold Recreation Center, 1695 Missouri State Road.
The American Red Cross also has had a distribution center set up there, providing flood victims with cleanup kits, rakes, shovels, tarps and gloves.
In addition, the Red Cross currently has a shelter for flood victims at the First Baptist Church of Arnold, 2012 Missouri State Road, and has been offering meals there, but it will close at 4 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 7).
People who have worked in or near floodwaters are advised to get tetanus shots if they haven’t had one in the past 10 years, and the Jefferson County Health Department is offering the shots at least through 4:30 p.m. today at the Arnold rec center. For more information about the shots, contact the Health Department’s Arnold office at 636-282-1010 or its Hillsboro office at 636-797-8045.
