Timothy J. Zeman, 53, of Pacific, a chronic offender, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for felony stealing in December 2015, but on Dec. 6, that sentence was reduced to seven years, court records said.
On Oct. 3, 2014, Zeman cut a chain-link fence to get onto property at Surdyke Yamaha in Crystal City and then drove three all-terrain vehicles to another location where he loaded two of them onto a utility trailer and the third one into a drainage ditch before leaving in a pickup and hauling away the two ATVs, the probable-cause statement said.
A witness saw the theft, the report said.
In all, the ATVs were valued at $46,499, according to the report.
Zeman pleaded guilty to the theft and in December 2015, Jefferson County Div. 3 Circuit Judge Nathan B. Stewart sentenced him to 12 years, court documents said.
However, on Sept. 26, an order was issued to set aside the 12-year sentence, and on Dec. 6, Jefferson County Div. 5 Circuit Judge Victor J. Melenbrink sentenced Zeman to seven years to be served concurrent with several other sentences he previously received, court records said.
Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Douglas S. Pribble handled the case.
In August 2015, Zeman was sentenced to a 12-year prison term for felony theft and six seven-year terms for felony burglary, theft and stealing charges stemming from three incidents between September 2014 and January 2015 in St. Louis County, court records show.
In October 2015, he was sentenced to five years for felony stealing of a motor vehicle in connection with a February 2015 incident in Jefferson County, according to court papers.
Zeman was sentenced in March 2015 to a five-year and a four-year term for felony tampering and felony resisting arrest tied to a February 2015 incident in Franklin County, a report said.
In addition, Zeman previously served prison time for six counts of felony stealing stemming from a July 2008 incident in Jefferson County, as well as for felony assault on a law enforcement officer connected to an August 2000 incident in Franklin County and for felony stealing tied to a March 1987 incident in St. Louis County.
