Authorities are looking for a woman with bright pink hair following a high-speed chase along Hwy. 141 from Jefferson County and into St. Louis County, Lt. Gary Higginbotham says.

At 1:59 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 20), a Jefferson County deputy pulled over the woman at Hwy. 141 and Romaine Creek in the Fenton area after she allegedly was spotted driving without a front license plate. The woman allegedly smelled of alcohol, and while the deputy was in his vehicle looking up the woman’s information on a computer, she reportedly sped away, Higginbotham said.

The deputy chased her for a short distance, but stopped the pursuit around 13th Street in the Springdale area because the woman allegedly was creating a dangerous situation by driving at speeds of more than 100 mph while there was moderate to heavy traffic along the highway, Higginbotham said.

A short time later, the woman apparently crashed into two vehicles at Hwy. 141 and the entrance to the Gravois Bluffs shopping center in St. Louis County and then continued into the complex but abandoned the vehicle when it became disabled near the JC Penney store, Higginbotham said.

At that point, the woman reportedly fled on foot but then stole a vehicle parked near the intersection of Nolan and Saline roads that was unlocked with the keys inside. At that time, both Jefferson County deputies and St. Louis County Police officers were patroling the area looking for the woman, but she eventually ditched that vehicle on Willow Creek Road in the Jefferson County portion of Fenton and fled on foot again, getting away, Higginbotham said.

St. Louis County Police had a helicopter searching the area, but the woman wasn’t found, Higginbotham added.

He said authorities believe they know who the woman is and that she is wanted on felony warrants.

However, Higginbotham didn’t want to release her name, age or town until further investigation is completed.

He said the woman was wearing a pink sweater and gray yoga pants.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
