A 54-year-old Pevely woman was arrested for allegedly stealing from Cato Fashions in Arnold where she previously worked. The woman allegedly stole a total of nearly $1,200 from the clothing store, 3926 Vogel Road, Arnold Police reported.
Arnold Police got a call about the thefts around 9:45 a.m. Dec. 3. A store employee told the officers the woman made 11 fraudulent returns between Sept. 18 and Oct. 21 totaling $1,180.36, the report said.
The woman was arrested at the store and taken to the Police Station, where she reportedly admitted to the thefts. She allegedly told the investigators she needed money for her pet, according to the report.
The woman was released pending application for warrants. Arnold Police will seek a stealing charge against her through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Cpl. Brett Ackermann said.
