Jaden Ferreira, of Wildwood, is facing several criminal charges after he allegedly broke into a man’s apartment and shot him in May, the Ellisville Police Department reported.
According to court records, Ferreira is charged with felony first-degree assault, first-degree burglary and two counts of armed criminal action.
The Ellisville Police Department said in a statement on social media that Ferreira had been arrested without incident on June 30 and as of July 2, was being held on a $100,000 cash only bond. The St. Louis County Circuit Court has scheduled a bond hearing for July 8 and a preliminary hearing for July 28.
According to court and police reports, Ferreira and his girlfriend arrived at the victim’s apartment at the Carmel Woods Condominium complex in Ellisville on May 11.
Police said the girlfriend, who is an acquaintance of the victim, had a key and both individuals entered the residence.
Ferreira, who was armed with a shotgun, went upstairs to the living room area, where the victim was live streaming, the report said.
The man confronted Ferreira and the two argued and wrestled over the weapon. A shot was fired, striking both men in their legs, the report said.
The victim then attempted to flee but he stumbled and fell down the stairs while Ferreira allegedly shot at him three times. Police arrived and the victim received emergency medical treatment before being taken to the hospital, court documents said.
Ferreira fled the scene and was located later near a QuikTrip and taken to the hospital by paramedics. Police said the shotgun was recovered and that Ferreira admitted shooting at the victim three times as he fell down the stairs.
