A De Soto Police Officer patrolling in the 500 block of Boyd Street stopped to check on the well-being of a man slumped in a chair near a house and ended up arresting him for alleged possession of a controlled substance. The incident happened just before 5 a.m. Oct. 5, Police Chief Rick Draper reported.
“As the officer approached the subject, he observed a syringe on the ground with a liquid inside of it,” Draper said.
The suspect told the officer he was using methamphetamine and was in possession of methamphetamine. The 33-year-old De Soto man was “arrested and booked into our agency,” Draper said.
The syringe was seized and will be sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Laboratory for analysis. Depending on results from the drug analysis, De Soto Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Draper said.
