Eureka Police recently arrested a 20-year-old Washington man for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after he reportedly made an illegal right turn from the I-44 exit onto northbound Hwy. 109. The man allegedly registered a .125 percent blood-alcohol content, the police report said. In Missouri, .08 percent is the legal limit.
At about 3:15 p.m. Aug. 12, an officer reportedly saw the man, in a 2010 Honda Pilot, make the illegal turn and stopped him on Fifth Street. The officer said the man smelled like alcohol and marijuana, and the suspect allegedly said he was coming from a club in St. Louis where he drank a beer while smoking marijuana. The man also told the officer he was going to White Castle, according to the report.
The suspect allegedly failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. He was taken to the Eureka Police Station, where he was booked and released with summonses to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for alleged DWI and making an improper right turn, Capt. Michael Werges said.
