Brett Matthew Wallen, 40, who lives south of Hillsboro, is facing charges for allegedly smoking methamphetamine outside the River City Casino, 777 River City Casino Blvd., in St. Louis County. In addition, four guns allegedly were found inside the pickup in which he was sitting, according to court documents.
Wallen was arrested on July 22, and as of July 23, he was being held on a $5,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court records show.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on March 26 charged Wallen with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, each one a class D felony that carries a penalty of up to seven years in prison; and unlawful use of a weapon, a class E felony punishable by up to four years in prison, according to court documents.
According to a probable-cause statement filed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a trooper was called Dec. 31, 2022, after surveillance video allegedly showed Wallen sitting in a GMC Sierra smoking from a glass pipe in a manner consistent with smoking meth.
The trooper found Wallen in the pickup and reportedly saw a glass pipe on the driver’s seat. When the trooper searched the pickup, he allegedly found two bags containing a white crystalized substance, a bag with a white powdery substance in it, another bag with three pills inside, three syringes containing a substance believed to be meth, five straws with residue on them, several other bags with residue inside them and three loaded handguns and a loaded shotgun, the report said.
Wallen allegedly told the trooper the crystal-like substances were meth and said he had the guns with him because “he had a girl at his house that gave him bad vibes and he didn’t want them to get stolen,” according to the report.
Lab analysis of the substances found in the pickup allegedly tested positive for meth, oxycodone and methadone, the report said.
