Ex-Jefferson County woman sentenced to seven years for drug possession

Krystal Anna Marie Voisey

A Jefferson County judge has sentenced Krystal Anna Marie Voisey, 30, of St. Louis to seven years in prison for possession of methamphetamine. Voisey, who had lived in High Ridge, was sentenced as a persistent offender due to pleading guilty to drug charges in 2017, court records show.

Jefferson County Div. 4 Circuit Judge Brenda Stacey on Nov. 26 sentenced Voisey, who had pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance. Voisey was ordered to undergo a treatment program and may be eligible for probation if she completes the program, according to court documents.

Jefferson County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Lindsay Whalen prosecuted the case.

According to the case’s probable-cause statement, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in March 2022 executed a search warrant at a residence in the county. Voisey came out of a bedroom during the search, and she told deputies she had meth in a black backpack that was in the room.

Deputies found a crystal-like substance in a plastic bag that was inside a pink-and-blue case that was in the backpack. There also were syringes inside the backpack, the report said.

Voisey told deputies the meth was for “personal use.” The Missouri State Highway Patrol tested the crystal-like substance and confirmed it was meth, according to the report.

According to court records, Voisey pleaded guilty in January 2017 to three charges of possession of a controlled substance following arrests by the Byrnes Mill Police in January 2016 and the Sheriff’s Office in April 2016. She was charged with two counts of drug possession following the Byrnes Mill Police arrest and one count of drug possession after being arrested by a Sheriff’s Office deputy.

In March 2017, she was sentenced to five years in prison for each possession charge and was to serve the sentences concurrently, or at the same time. However, the sentences were suspended, and Voisey was placed on five years’ probation, court documents said.

Voisey had her probation revoked in 2019 and 2021, but she was placed back on five years’ probation each time after completing treatment programs, according to court records.
