Festus Police patch 2019

Festus Police are investigating thefts from vehicles parked at two Festus hotels. The first incident was reported Sunday morning (Aug. 18), and the second one was reported Tuesday morning (Aug. 20), Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.

He said the first theft happened at the Quality Inn, 1200 W. Gannon Dr., and the second incident happened at La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham, 1001 Veterans Blvd. (Hwy. A).

“We were contacted around 6 a.m. by the victim (at Quality Inn), a 40-year-old woman from Perryville, who said her vehicle had been broken into,” Lewis said. “It’s a 2003 Jeep Liberty. It was unlocked.”

Items stolen from that vehicle included money, Social Security cards, debit cards and credit cards, Lewis said.

He said the theft at La Quinta was reported at about 6:45 a.m. Tuesday.

“There was a vehicle with a rear window knocked out,” Lewis said. “The victim is a man from Nebraska. The car is a 2009 Dodge Caliber.”

Lewis said the report on the second theft was not finished as of Tuesday afternoon, and he didn’t have a list of the stolen items.

Anyone with information about the thefts is urged to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
