Imperial man charged for allegedly threatening woman with gun

Tyreece Martin

Tyreece B. Martin, 25, of Imperial has been accused of pointing a gun at a woman and threatening to kill her. He was living with the woman he threatened, according to court documents.

On March 3, the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Martin with unlawful use of a weapon, a class E felony punishable by up to four years in prison, and armed criminal action, an unclassified felony that carries a penalty of three to 15 years in prison, court records show.

Martin was arrested on March 6 and was held on a $10,000 surety bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro until his release on March 7, according to court documents.

According to the probable-cause statement in the case, Martin was arguing with the woman on March 2 when he became agitated and grabbed a gun. He allegedly pointed the gun at the woman and grabbed her by the wrist.

Martin allegedly told the woman he hoped she would die and said, “You’ll never see your kids again.” The woman was able to get away from Martin, barricade herself in a bedroom and call for help, the report said.

Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Tiffany Baker is prosecuting the case.

A bond review hearing in the case is set for 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, in front of Jefferson County Div. 14 Associate Circuit Judge Timothy Miller.
