Eureka Police have identified a 16-year-old male and a 16-year-old female, both of Eureka, as suspects in a vandalism case. The two allegedly admitted to spray-painting vulgar words on at least five vehicles and two garage doors in Eureka early July 12, Capt. David Wilson reported.
On July 30, a Eureka Police officer received information about the two suspects who reportedly were seen on surveillance video spray-painting vehicles and garage doors in the Rockwood Parc, Hunters Green and Hunter Heights subdivisions. Two of the vehicles belonged to the St. Louis County Police Department, Wilson said.
Detectives located the man at his home in the 4000 block of Meramec Boulevard, and the woman was at her home in the 600 block of Top Notch Lane. The case was turned over to juvenile authorities, Wilson said.
Most of the vehicles and garage doors were cleaned without charge. However, one victim paid $50 and the St. Louis County Police paid $646 to have paint removed from vehicles, Wilson said.
The vandalism occurred between 2- 5 a.m. July 12, when a 2018 Ford Explorer and a 2012 Chevrolet Impala, both St. Louis County Police vehicles, parked on Rockwood Place Court, were spray-painted, the report said.
In addition, a 2016 Hyundai Elantra and a 2012 Nissan Pathfinder parked in front of homes on Rockwood Place Court were spray-painted, and a garage door on the street had graffiti painted on it, according to the report.
A 2018 Chevrolet Silverado parked on Hunters Heights Drive and a garage door on that street also had vulgar words spray-painted on them, according to the report.
