Two juveniles are facing charges in connection with the theft of a car from the Six Flags’ parking lot in Eureka. The stolen 2013 Malibu was returned to the owner, but an iPhone that was inside the car was not recovered, Eureka Police reported.
An 18-year-old Springfield woman told police her Nike backpack was stolen at about 4:20 p.m. July 4 while she was at Hurricane Harbor, the amusement park’s water park, 4900 Six Flags Road, in Eureka. She said the keys to her 2013 Chevrolet Malibu, her wallet and swimming items were in the bag, the report said.
At about 4:50 p.m., the woman went to the parking lot and discovered her car missing. Two days later, on July 6, St. Louis Metropolitan Police reportedly found two juveniles in the Malibu and returned the car to the owner. As of July, 16, though, the iPhone, which was valued at about $1,300, was still missing, according to the report.
Eureka Police Lt. Michael Werges said the department was waiting for a report from St. Louis Police, and St. Louis Police will seek tampering charges against the juveniles through the juvenile court system.
