Arnold Police arrested a man and woman, both from St. Louis, after they arrived at a gas station in a U-Haul truck that was reported stolen in Chicago. The woman also allegedly had a substance suspected of being methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in her purse, police reported.

An officer on Oct. 6 saw a 2017 Ford F-650 parked outside the QuikTrip gas station, 1069 Jeffco Blvd. The Chicago Police Department had reported the truck as stolen, but it was not known when or where the truck was stolen, the report said.

A 44-year-old St. Louis man was sitting in the driver’s seat when police arrived. He was arrested, and officers discovered he was wanted by O’Fallon Police and North County Police Cooperative on active warrants, according to the report.

A 50-year-old St. Louis woman had entered the convenience store prior to the police arriving. Officers found her in the store, and when they attempted to arrest her, she allegedly pulled away, the report said.

She was arrested without further incident, and an officer allegedly found a substance that appeared to be meth and drug paraphernalia in her purse, according to the report.

The two were taken to the Police Station, where they were booked and released pending the applications for warrants, the report said.

Arnold Police will seek a charge against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for first-degree tampering, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.

Depending on the results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and second-degree tampering, Christopher said.
