Festus man accused of raping woman in Jefferson County

Donovan Labee

Donovan Chase Labee, 32, of Festus has been accused of raping a woman in her Jefferson County home. Labee, the woman and the woman’s husband consumed alcohol and “THC liquid shots” together before the alleged sexual assault, court documents said.

Labee was charged on June 1 with felony first-degree rape or attempted rape, first-degree sodomy or attempted sodomy and first-degree sexual abuse. As of June 4, he was being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court and jail records show.

According to the case’s probable-cause statement, Labee was with the alleged victim and her husband the evening of March 30 and into the early morning of March 31. The woman fell asleep in a bedroom, and her husband fell asleep on a couch outside the bedroom.

Labee went into the bedroom and allegedly started to touch the woman. She told investigators she pushed Labee away, and he left the bedroom, the report said.

However, Labee returned to the bedroom after the woman fell asleep, and he allegedly sexually assaulted her and grabbed her throat. The woman eventually was able to push him away and run out of the house, according to the report.

The woman said Labee followed her, and after she locked herself in a vehicle outside the home, he attempted to get into the vehicle. While in the vehicle the woman called a friend, and when deputies arrived at the home, they arrested Labee, the report said.
