The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 42-year-old Fenton man and a 40-year-old High Ridge woman for alleged drug possession. The two were arrested after a deputy spotted them at a closed business in the 1300 block of West Lark Industrial Drive in Jefferson County portion of Fenton, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

At about 2 a.m. Jan. 19, a deputy saw a Kia Rio enter the parking lot of the closed business. When the deputy drove near the car, the man allegedly got out of the driver’s seat and ran into a wooded area, the report said.

The deputy questioned the woman, and she allegedly gave him false information about the man’s identity. Eventually, deputies found the man hiding under a deck of a house in the 1600 block of West Sugar Lane. He already was wanted on warrants, according to the report.

When deputies searched the car, they allegedly found illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia inside it. The man and woman were arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro. They were booked and released pending the application for charges, the report said.

Depending on results of the drug analysis, the Sheriff’s Office will seek charges against the man and woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Capt. Matt Moore said.
