The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrested two suspects at the scene of a recent burglary at a home in the 1000 block of Ginger Root Drive in Fenton, where numerous clocks and other items were stolen. The burglary occurred around 11:50 p.m. June 17, the report said.
It appeared the suspects removed an air-conditioning unit from a window to get inside the home.
When officers arrived at the home, they allegedly found the two suspects still at the scene – a 59-year-old High Ridge woman and a 41-year-old St. Louis man. The investigator reportedly found all the stolen items in the man’s vehicle.
Stolen items included 14 clocks; a wooden barometer; wood-framed, ship-themed art; a propane torch fuel and a wood and glass display case containing silver trinkets. The stolen items were valued at $605, according to the report.
The suspects allegedly admitted the items found in the vehicle belonged to the victims but denied entering the house. They said another man and woman had been at the home earlier and put the items in the vehicle, the report said.
The suspects were arrested, booked and released pending application for warrants, Sgt. Matthew Moore said. He also said the stolen items were returned to the victims.
