A work truck stolen in Festus was found several days later in St. Louis after the vehicle had been burned and destroyed. The 2001 Ford F-250 was stolen from outside a home in the 800 block of Joachim Street, Festus Chief Tim Lewis said.
He said the victim, a 27-year-old Festus man, reported the theft at about 8:30 a.m. June 23.
“It was stolen sometime between June 22 and June 23,” Lewis said. “The victim had about $8,000 in tools inside of it. The vehicle was unlocked, but the keys for it were in the house.”
Lewis said St. Louis Metropolitan Police discovered the vehicle around 1 a.m. June 27.
“It was recovered at Eugene (Avenue) and Koeln (Avenue) in St. Louis,” he said. “It had been burned.”
Lewis said the tools were not recovered.
As of June 29, no arrests had been made and no items had been recovered, he said. Anyone with information about the theft is urged to call the Festus Police at 636-931-3646.
