A 28-year-old Festus man was arrested for alleged possession of a stolen handgun during a traffic stop. The suspect was pulled over because the pickup he was driving had expired license plates, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.
At 12:20 a.m. Aug. 14, officers stopped the 2006 F-150 pickup the man was driving at Collins Drive and Veterans Boulevard (Hwy. A). He allegedly was found with a stolen handgun hidden in his pants, Lewis said.
He said the gun, which was valued at about $500, was reported stolen from St. Louis County.
The suspect already was wanted on outstanding warrants from the O’Fallon Police Department, Lewis said.
The suspect was arrested and then booked and released pending application for warrants.
