Arnold Police are investigating the theft of a pickup from outside Pear Tree Inn. The pickup was later recovered in St. Louis County, but some of the tools it contained were still missing, police reported.
An employee from Clark Enterprise of Hampton, Va., said he parked the pickup at about 2:30 a.m. April 20 outside the hotel, 1201 Drury Lane, in Arnold and discovered it missing at about 10 a.m. Arnold Police do not know if the pickup was locked or if the man had the keys to it, the report said.
At about 8:30 a.m. that morning, St. Louis County Police found the pickup abandoned in the 4800 block of Lemay Ferry Road. The employee said that when the pickup was stolen it had about $27,000 worth of tools inside, and everything was still in the pickup except for a Stihl concrete saw and two torches. Those missing tools were valued at about $2,000, according to the report.
As of May 2, no suspects had been identified, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said. Anyone with information about the incident should call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
