Festus Police are investigating the thefts of tools and materials that belonged to construction crews working to renovate the Festus 8 Cinema, 1522 Parkway West. The theft was reported about 6 a.m. Sept. 12, after crews showed up to work, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.
“We were contacted by contractors at the Festus 8,” he said. “Crews reported multiple tools missing. A door was partially open when they arrived.”
Lewis said one contractor reported about $2,000 in stolen items and a second contractor reported about $1,000 in stolen items.
As of Sept. 18, the stolen items had not been recovered, Lewis said. Anyone with information is urged to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
The cinema has been closed for renovations since Aug. 27 and is targeted to reopen by the last weekend of October, an official with B&B Theaters said at the start of the project. B&B Theatres operates the Festus 8 Cinema.
