John R. Jaracz, 51, of Fenton recently received a 10-year prison sentence for drug trafficking, court records indicate.

On May 15, 2012, he was found in Jefferson County with more than 30 grams of methamphetamine, the report said.

Jaracz pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced March 18 by Jefferson County Div. 1 Circuit Judge Robert G. Wilkins.

Then, on May 7, Jaracz was sentenced by Wilkins to five years in prison on a felony assault charge stemming from a July 11, 2012 incident in Jefferson County.

That term is to be served concurrently, or at the same time, with the 10-year sentence, according to the report.

He may be released early if he successfully completes a one-year treatment program, according to the report.

Two other people have been sentenced in connection with the May 2012 drug trafficking incident – April Schackart, 33, of Fenton and Michael A. Baker Jr., 41, of Fenton, court papers show.

Baker also was sentenced June 12 to a five-year term, four four-year terms and two 60-day jail sentences on a variety of drug charges stemming from three other incidents that occurred between April 2011 and March 2012, the report said

But, all Baker’s sentences are to be served concurrently, or at the same time. Also, he may be released early if he successfully completes a 24-month treatment program, according to the report.

Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Trisha C. Stefanksi handled the cases.

Jaracz also was sentenced on July 18 to six months for felony stealing tied to a July 10, 2012, incident in St. Louis County.

He also has been charged with two felony drug charges and a misdemeanor drug charge connected to a Dec. 19, 2012, incident in St. Louis. That case is pending, court papers show.

Jaracz currently is in the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre.
