A 16-year-old Arnold male recently was arrested for allegedly stealing a golf cart from Arnold City Park and damaging it, along with a nearby yard while he reportedly drove the cart home. The golf cart, which was valued at about $5,800, will have to be replaced, Arnold Police Detective Lt. James Jones said.
The teen allegedly stole the cart between 2 p.m. Sept. 15 and 2 p.m. Sept. 17. At 7:40 a.m. Sept. 18, Arnold Police got a report that someone had cut and removed a section of fence at a home in the 700 block of Irene Drive, which is off Tenbrook Road and just south of Starling Airport Road near Arnold City Park. Apparently the teen drove through the yard to get to his nearby home, Jones said.
During the investigation, officers drove up to the suspect’s home and could hear the golf cart running in nearby woods. Officers found both the golf cart and the suspect there, Jones said.
He said the roof had been cut off the golf cart, and it had been damaged with paint, Jones said.
The teen was taken into custody, and the case was turned over to juvenile authorities, Jones said.
