Pevely Police patch

Pevely Police are investigating the theft of a black 2005 Chevrolet Equinox that was parked along southbound I-55 near the Pevely exit. The SUV was stolen between 9 p.m. April 28 and 8 a.m. April 29, Chief Tony Moutray said.

He said a 25-year-old Festus woman walked into the Pevely Police Department on April 29 about 1:30 p.m. to tell police her SUV was missing. She said she parked the Equinox along the interstate near the 180-mile marker after it ran out of gas on April 28 and when she returned for it the next morning, it was gone.

The woman checked with a local tow company, but it had no record of towing away the SUV. Police completed a computer check and confirmed that police had not called to have the vehicle towed, Moutray said.

“Her vehicle was paid off and current on insurance,” he said. “Items in the vehicle included her boyfriend’s masonry tools (valued at $200), athletic apparel and his wallet containing a state ID, $50 and other miscellaneous items.”

Anyone with information is urged to call Pevely Police at 636-475-5301.
