A suspicious fire destroyed a vacant house just outside the De Soto city limits on June 21, De Soto Rural Fire Chief Tom Fitzgerald said.
Firefighters were called to the house fire at 10:22 p.m. in the 4900 block of Fountain City Road. When firefighters arrived, the house was engulfed in flames, he said.
Fitzgerald said no one was living in the house and no utilities were hooked up. The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire.
No injuries were reported.
Firefighters remained on the scene until 2 a.m.
The De Soto Fire Department and Hillsboro and Hematite fire protection districts assisted with the fire. The Valle Ambulance District also responded. The Jefferson R-7 and St. Clair fire protection districts and Festus Fire Department assisted with other calls.
