A politically motivated comment ended with a 30-year-old Eureka man being arrested for assault and resisting arrest, Eureka Police report.
At about 9:30 p.m. June 23, at Augustine Road and Eureka Road, a 47-year-old Eureka man was driving by, and the 30-year old shouted at him, calling him a “Trump lover,” a report said.
The driver responded, telling the suspect he was drunk and advising him to go home, but the 30-year-old rushed at the car. The driver got out of the car and the suspect struck him in the face, according the report.
A group of people with the 30-year-old asked the driver not to contact the police because the man was drunk, but the driver called the police anyway. When the suspect was located, he resisted arrested but was restrained without the use of physical force, the report said.
The man was booked, issued summonses to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for third-degree assault and resisting arrest and then was released.
