A wing at StoneBridge Senior Living in De Soto was evacuated early Nov. 10 due to smoke in the building. No injuries were reported, De Soto Fire Chief Tony Ochoa said.
He said the De Soto Fire Department got a call at 2:30 a.m. about the some in the nursing home on Villa Drive. He said firefighters searched room by room before finding a fire in the furnace and quickly extinguishing it.
Ochoa said the fire was limited to the furnace.
“There was no damage to the building or to any of the rooms,” he said.
Ochoa said once the smoke was cleared from the building, the residents were allowed to return to their rooms.
The De Soto Rural, Jefferson R-7, Hillsboro and Hematite fire protection districts, Festus Fire Department and Valle Ambulance District responded to the scene.
