A 34-year-old St. Louis woman was arrested in Eureka for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. She had her 1-year-old child in the car at the time, Eureka Police reported.
The woman was pulled over at about 8:20 p.m. Jan. 14, after officers reportedly saw the 2005 Honda Civic she was driving swerving on eastbound I-44. The woman left the right lane and traveled onto the shoulder at least twice. Then, the woman switched into the center lane and began to accelerate, the report said.
The woman then began to slow down and allegedly swerved between three lanes, nearly striking the officer’s cruiser at least once before she was pulled over near the Central Avenue overpass. The woman appeared intoxicated, and she was slow to answer questions and to produce her driver’s license and the car’s insurance information, according to the report.
Because it was snowing, the officer did not have the woman perform field tests, but arrested her and transported her and her child to the Police Station. The woman allegedly registered a .193 percent blood-alcohol content at the station. In Missouri, .08 percent is the legal limit.
The woman’s husband was called to drive her and the child home, and she was issued summonses to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for improper lane use and DWI with a child in the vehicle. Eureka Police contacted child services about the incident, Lt. Michael Werges said.
