A 50-year-old St. Louis woman has been arrested in connection with a recent burglary and assault at a home in the 10000 block of Lake Crest Drive in the Hillsboro area. The incident happened just before 8 p.m. June 21, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.

The victim said she came home from work and found a strange man and woman there. The victim said the woman, who was found inside the house, claimed she was there “getting items for a friend.” The man, who was outside the home, said he was there “looking for chickens,” the report said.

While the two were fleeing the scene in a blue Chevrolet pickup, they allegedly ran over the victim’s left ankle. The victim’s husband took her for medical treatment and fortunately, her ankle was not broken, according to the report.

Later, the victim found that some cash, coins and an iPad were missing. The Sheriff’s Office had no estimate for the stolen items.

The Sheriff’s Office will seek burglary and assault charges against the woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorneys’ Office, Cpl. Matthew Moore said. As of July 5, no charges had been filed, he added.
