A 31-year-old St. Louis man has been charged with allegedly shooting and robbing Chris Sanna, 43, of House Springs on Sept. 25 in downtown St. Louis after he left a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game, authorities report.

Sanna was shot in the back and has a spinal injury that can not be surgically repaired, according to his mother, Candis Sanna, on her Facebook page.

Kilwa C. Jones of the 3000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in St. Louis was charged with eight felonies connected to the shooting, including two counts of first-degree assault, four counts of armed criminal action and two counts of first-degree robbery, according to the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office.

At about 10:30 p.m. Sept. 25, Jones allegedly shot Sanna while he and his girlfriend were walking to their parked car after leaving the baseball game, the probable-cause statement said.

As the two were walking in the 200 block of Walnut Street, Jones allegedly approached them, displaying a handgun, and stole a Michael Kors purse from Sanna’s girlfriend, the report said.

Then, as Sanna was reaching in his pockets to get his property, Jones allegedly fired two shots at him, and one shot struck Sanna in the back, “paralyzing him,” according to the report.

Jones then went through Sanna’s pockets and stole items from him, the report said.

About an hour later, Jones allegedly used one of the debit cards he had stolen, which was captured on surveillance footage, according to the report.

In addition, the victims identified Jones as the assailant, the report said.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office filed the eight felony charges against Jones today, and a $1 million bond was set. He was being held today in St. Louis County on unrelated charges, said Schron Y. Jackson, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

Candis Sanna has information on her Facebook page about a Go Fund Me account that has been set up to raise money for her son. As of this evening, nearly $85,000 had been donated to the account.
