Eureka Police arrested a 27-year-old St. Louis man after he allegedly stole sunglasses from a shop at the Six Flags amusement park, 4900 Six Flags Road, and resisting arrest. Officers also discovered the man was wanted by St. Louis Police on a felony assault warrant, police reported.
The man was initially stopped by park employees at about 7 p.m. July 25 after he allegedly stole the sunglass, which were valued at $17. The man refused to go to the park’s loss prevention office with the employees and tried to walk away, the report said.
The employees cornered the man near the exit when an officer arrived and told the employees to let the man go. The officer then told the man to stop as he walked toward the parking lot, but he continued to walk, according to the report.
The officer then told the man he would be arrested for shoplifting if he kept walking away, but the man kept moving toward the parking lot. The officer then grabbed the man by the arm and attempted to arrest him, the report said.
The man allegedly continued to pull away from the officer, but when a second officer arrived, he was overpowered and arrested. The man was then taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and held for the St. Louis Police, according to the report.
Eureka Police issued the man summons to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for alleged stealing and resisting arrest, Capt. Michael Werges said.
