A 41-year-old St. Louis man was arrested when he reportedly tried to steal a television from Walmart, 2201 Michigan Ave., after he already allegedly had stolen two other TVs and an ice maker from the store, Arnold Police reported.
Officers were called to the store at about 3:30 p.m. March 18 by an employee who said the man was trying to take a TV. The officers stopped the man at the door with the television, the report said.
The officers then searched a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado the man had driven to the business, and they found two other TVs and an ice maker that he reportedly had stolen from Walmart. The items were worth $798.25, according to the report.
It is not clear if the man had taken the two TVs and ice maker just before reportedly trying to steal a third TV, or if he allegedly had stolen those items earlier in the day, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
The man was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released pending application for a warrant. Christopher said Arnold Police will seek a felony stealing charge against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
