Arnold Police recently arrested a 36-year-old St. Louis man for allegedly resisting arrest and possessing stolen property, Detective Lt. James Jones said.

At 4:40 a.m. Oct. 2, an Arnold Police officer spotted the suspect allegedly riding a red Yamaha motorcycle at Hwy. 141 and Lone Star Drive and tried to stop him for traffic violations, but he failed to yield and fled north on I-55 into St. Louis County. Later, officers discovered that the motorcycle had been reported stolen out of University City, Jones said.

He said Wednesday (Oct. 26) that the motorcycle has not been recovered.

Then, at about 11:35 a.m. Oct. 16, an Arnold Police detective was investigating an unrelated case in the 2000 block of Missouri State Road and spotted the suspect, who already had been identified as the man who fled from police. The suspect allegedly had the same motorcycle helmet he was seen wearing in the previous incident, Jones said.

The man was taken into custody, and officers allegedly found him with credit cards that had been stolen between 6:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Oct. 30 from a vehicle parked at the Arnold Crossroads development at Hwy. 141 and Jeffco Boulevard, Jones said.

In that case, witnesses reportedly saw someone break the passenger-side window to the vehicle and steal items out of it and then leave in a white Camaro convertible. The victim reported that a wallet containing credit and bank cards was missing.

The St. Louis man allegedly found with the credit cards told police he got them from a house in St. Louis, which was verified, Jones said, and the Camaro was found near that house. That Camaro is connected to other thefts in the city, Jones added.

He said the suspect was issued summonses for possession of stolen property, traffic charges and resisting arrest.
