Eureka Police arrested an 18-year-old East St. Louis man for allegedly assaulting a Six Flags security officer, a 26-year-old Litchfield man who also is a Mount Olive Police officer, at the amusement park, 4900 Six Flags Road. The officer was breaking up a fight between two other employees when he was allegedly attacked, police reported.

At about 11:25 a.m. June 15, two other employees started fighting near the human resource trailer in an area only open to park employees. The officer stepped in to stop the fight, and an employee started to hit the officer, the report said.

The officer was cut and bruised, but he refused medical assistance. No one was injured in the fight, according to the report.

The man who allegedly attacked the officer said one of the men involved in the fight was his brother, and he was trying to protect his sibling. The man was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released, the report said.

Eureka Police issued the man a summons to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for alleged third-degree assault of a law enforcement officer, Capt. Michael Werges said.
