The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a 22-year-old man in connection with the recent theft of a pickup from outside a home in the 3900 block of Old Hwy. M in Imperial, Lt. Gary Higginbotham says. He said the Sheriff’s Office doesn’t have an address for the suspect.
The theft was reported at 1 p.m. May 27, after the victim woke up and found the pickup, a tan 2003 Dodge Ram, missing. One of the victim’s friends later spotted the vehicle traveling along Hwy. MM and called 911, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
A deputy pulled over the man driving the pickup, but he got out and ran away. Others still inside the vehicle identified the suspect, the report said.
The pickup, valued at $8,000, was recovered and returned to the victim. As of Friday (June 10), however, the suspect had not been taken into custody, Higginbotham said.
