The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a wrecker truck stolen from Shanks Auto Repair, 13049 Hwy. 21, in De Soto. The wrecker was stolen between April 4 and 8:30 a.m. April 5, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

The 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, which was valued at $15,500, was later recovered in the 5500 block of Hwy. H west of De Soto, the report said.

“Someone used black paint to cover the business name on the vehicle,” Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said. “It was returned to the owner.”

The business owner told investigators another vehicle on the property was tampered with during the period the wrecker was stolen.

Bissell said April 26 that no arrests had been made and the investigation was ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
