Two men, one armed with a shotgun, allegedly robbed the Quik Stop convenience store, 1091 Gravois Road, in unincorporated Fenton, at about 6:15 a.m. this morning (Dec. 18), the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Surveillance footage reportedly showed a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black gloves and covering his face with a black mask enter the store with a shotgun. He was followed by another man wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, a baseball cap with a yellow bill under the hood and black gloves and covering his face a white mask, according to the footage.
The man with the shotgun allegedly charged up to the counter, pointed the gun at a female clerk and demanded she give him her cell phone, while the other man stood to the armed man’s left and motioned for the clerk to hand over her phone. As the clerk emptied the cash register, the man in the blue sweatshirt reportedly stepped out of the camera’s view, but banging could be heard in the background, the report said.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that man used a hammer to break into two machines containing cash. The two men then exited the store with cash they allegedly stole and got into an unidentified vehicle and fled, headed north on Hwy. 30 toward St. Louis County. The Sheriff’s Office would not say how much money was stolen.
The clerk was not injured in the encounter, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
