A 25-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were arrested in connection with a recent burglary at a home in the 13000 block of Hwy. TT in the Festus area. The burglary occurred between 5 a.m. and 5:50 p.m. May 13, while the victim was at work, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
The suspects have no permanent address, said Lt. Gary Higginbotham of the Sheriff’s Office.
The suspects allegedly forced open a rear door to the home to get inside and then stole a laptop computer and a set of golf clubs. The damage to the door was estimated at $300, and the stolen items were valued at $1,900, the report said.
The victim had surveillance footage that showed a man and a woman break into the home, and a suspect vehicle, a silver Saturn Ion, was identified. Later, the suspects were identified and arrested in separate incidents on May 17, Higginbotham said.
The Sheriff’s Office will seek felony charges against the two through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. As of Thursday (June 2), no charges had been filed, Higginbotham said.
