The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 39-year-old Arnold man for allegedly shooting another man last night (July 27) at the entrance to the Lakewood Apartments in Imperial. The victim, a 48-year-old Arnold man, was shot in the chest and transported to an area hospital where he received treatment and was later released, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
At about 7 p.m., according to the victim, he was driving on Lakewood Landing and pulled in behind a vehicle driven by the 39-year-old at the entrance to the apartment complex. The two men reportedly got into an argument, and then the suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and “shot at the victim multiple times, with one of the fired rounds striking the victim in the upper left chest area,” the Sheriff’s Office reported today (July 28) in a written statement.
In addition, a passenger in the victim’s vehicle, his 19-year-old daughter, allegedly was cut when she was struck by glass from the windshield that shattered after being struck by one of the fired rounds. Her arm was cut, but she refused medical treatment at the scene, the report said.
The two men apparently know each other and have been involved in an "ongoing feud," said Sgt. Jim Kausler of the Sheriff's Office.
Deputies later located the suspect and arrested him. The Sheriff’s Office is seeking charges against him through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
The suspect’s name will not be released unless charges are filed.
