Eureka Police arrested a 31-year-old Robertsville man for alleged possession of fentanyl. He was arrested after police got a call that the man was asleep inside a pickup parked outside the Motomart gas station, 5695 Fox Creek Road, in Eureka, police reported.

Police got a call at approximately 4:10 p.m. May 14 about a man reportedly slumped inside a red 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. When a Eureka Police officer arrived, a dog inside the pickup stepped onto the man’s lap, which appeared to wake him, the report said.

The officer reportedly saw a pink and white capsule on the driver’s seat, and the driver allegedly told the officer the capsule contained fentanyl and that there was a case containing more fentanyl capsules in the pickup, according to the report.

The officer found the case, which allegedly contained eight capsules like the one found on the driver’s seat. The officer also learned the man’s driver’s license was revoked and that the man was wanted on a warrant from the Pacific Police, the report said.

The man was arrested and taken to the Eureka Police Station, where he was booked and held for Pacific Police. Depending on results of the drug analysis, Eureka Police will seek charges against the man through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, Lt. Michael Werges said.

Werges also said Eureka Police contacted someone to pick up the dog, who was unharmed.
