The U.S. Postal Service is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person who stole a route truck from the Imperial Post Office. The truck was stolen between about 6:30 p.m. Sept. 11 and 2 p.m. Sept. 12 from the back parking lot of the Post Office, 6035 West Outer Road, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service reported.
The truck was recovered at about 10:35 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Sky Hookah Lounge, 469 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold, Arnold Police reported.
Inspection team leader Matthew Villicana said there was no mail in the truck when it was stolen, and there were no signs of damage to the vehicle when it was returned to the Post Office.
“The most important thing right now is that it was recovered and no one’s mail was stolen out of the vehicle,” he said. “That was the first priority, that we solve that part of it (that mail wasn’t stolen). Luckily, that wasn’t the case.”
Villicana said authorities are still investigating how the truck was stolen off the Imperial Post Office lot, which is accessible during business hours.
“You have look at all the different angles,” Villicana said. “You have to look at how someone had access. How they got into the car, and if anyone saw it happen.”
Anyone with information that could lead to the identification of a suspect should contact U.S. Postal Inspection Service at 314-539-9361.
