The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a race car, a trailer and other items from a home south of De Soto. The stolen items have an estimated value of about $42,000.
The incident occurred between 11 p.m. Aug. 5 and 12:30 p.m. Aug. 6 from a house in the 13000 block of Klondike Road.
The victim told investigators that when he arrived home he noticed a trail of fluids leading to the garage, opened the garage door and found “everything disheveled.” Entry was gained through a garage side door, the report said.
Stolen items included a race car with black interior, a silver roll cage and a damaged rear end; a black car trailer; a racing steering wheel; a race engine; two chain saws; a tool box full of miscellaneous tools; and ratchet straps.
Sgt. Matthew Moore of the Sheriff’s Office said Aug. 27 that none of the items had been recovered and there were no arrests.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau at 636-797-5515.
