Mark Steven Quimby, 52, of Imperial has been accused of attacking a man with a club outside a home in the 3300 block of Eldon Drive in Imperial, according to court documents.
The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on June 11 charged Quimby with second-degree assault, a class D felony. The Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has asked the court to enhance the charge to be a class C felony, which is punishable by three to 10 years in prison, because Quimby is a persistent offender, court records show.
Quimby was found guilty of second-degree burglary in May 2005 and in December 2006, and he was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance in June 2014 and September 2014, court documents said.
Quimby was arrested on June 26, and as of July 1, he was being held on a $20,000 surety-bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, according to court records.
According to the case’s probable-cause statement, Quimby on April 22 allegedly hit a man several times with a wooden club. The attack happened outside the alleged victim’s home.
Quimby also allegedly tried to hit another man who attempted to intervene, but that man was not struck, the report said.
