Arnold Police are investigating thefts from two vehicles in the same neighborhood. One of the thefts occurred in the 1600 block of Melody Lane and the other was on nearby St. Petersburg Court, police reported.
Both thefts were reported early on Dec. 20. The theft on Melody Lane occurred at about 3:50 a.m., when several people wearing masks and gloves reportedly were seen entering vehicles parked outside a home there. The theft on St. Petersburg Court happened during the same period when several people matching the same description allegedly were seen on surveillance in the area, the report said.
In both incidents the suspects were seen in a silver or gray SUV, according to the report.
During the incident on Melody Lane, the culprits reportedly rummaged through two unlocked vehicles parked in the driveway, but nothing was stolen from them. However, they also went through an unlocked 2017 Ford F250 and stole tools worth about $800 from the pickup, the report said.
In the St. Petersburg Court incident, suspects got into a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu and stole two purses which contained a driver’s license, credit cards and cash. In all, the money and other items were valued at about $2,000, the report said.
The victim in that theft was unsure if the car was locked but said a window was left slightly ajar, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
As of Dec. 29, none of the stolen items had been recovered and no suspects had been identified, he said. Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
