An Arnold Police officer used a stun gun to subdue a 36-year-old Arnold man who reportedly was holding a knife to his throat at a home on D Street. Arnold Police were called to the home because the man reportedly was threatening to kill himself, Capt. Rich Shular said.

The man’s former girlfriend called police at about 10:40 p.m. March 7, after the man allegedly called her and threatened to commit suicide, police reported.

When police arrived, the man was in a back bedroom and reportedly was holding a knife to his throat and yelling at people to leave him alone. Because of the distance between the officers and the man, an officer used the stun gun to subdue him and keep him from hurting himself. After the man was subdued, he was taken to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County for evaluation, the report said.

When police searched the room, they allegedly found drug paraphernalia and a substance believed to be methamphetamine. Depending on the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, Shular said.
