A gun was stolen from an unlocked SUV parked outside a home on Top Notch Lane, and a garage door opener in an unlocked pickup outside another home on the street was used to get inside that garage. The incident happened overnight between June 9 and June 10, Eureka Police reported.

The owner of the 2016 Nissan Pathfinder SUV said a 9mm Walther P9 semi-automatic gun was stolen from the vehicle. The gun was valued at about $500, the report said.

Someone also apparently rummaged through an unlocked 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 parked outside a nearby home and used the garage door opener inside the pickup to open the garage. A car inside the garage also was gone through, but the owners said nothing appeared to be stolen from either vehicle, according to a report.

As of June 19, the gun had not been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Sgt. Michael Tapp said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
