crime investigation

Eureka Police are investigating thefts at Midwest Motors, 1400 S. Outer Road, where items worth an estimated $4,274 were stolen. The thefts happened between midnight and 7:45 a.m. Dec. 12, the police reported.

Someone broke into four pickups and stole radios, trailer hitch balls and a bed cover. The dealership owner said the pickups were locked and the keys were secured in the business when he left the day before the thefts occurred, the report said.

When the owner returned to work the next day, he found a 2005 Ford F-250, 2005 Chevrolet C/K 2500, 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and a Ford F-350 had all been broken into. There were pry marks on the front doors and side windows to the pickups, and the dashboards were torn off in each pickup, according to the report.

As of Dec. 19, none of the stolen items had been recovered and there were no suspects, Capt. David Wilson said. Anyone with information about the incident should call Eureka Police at 636-931-6600.
